UD’s Matt Laudemann

9:40 a.m., Aug. 28, 2006--With a pair of season opening wins in the Towson University Kickoff Tournament, the University of Delaware men's soccer team has already matched its 2005 total.

The Fightin' Blue Hens, led by first year Head Coach Ian Hennessy, defeated Loyola College of Maryland 3-2 on Friday and blanked Adelphi University 2-0 on Sunday to open the season 2-0. The 2005 Hens went 2-12-4.

UD will return to action with a home game against Villanova University at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.

In the victory over Loyola, UD got a pair of goals from sophomore Matt Laudemann, including the game winner off a pass from senior Anthony Molinaro. Also scoring to the Hens was junior Sobhan Tadjalli, who found the net off a feed from Michael Bratus. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Thames had seven saves.

Against Adelphi, Tadjalli and senior Tal Blau scored goals on assists by Laudemann and sophomore Bill Paugh. Thames had three saves to earn his fifth career shutout.
