Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in the Aug. 18 Wall Street Journal and by the Associated Press in stories about the election of dissident investor Nelson Peltz to the board of H.J. Heinz Co. "Anytime you have an advocate for change in the board who is articulate and capable, it certainly makes the odds of a quicker restructuring that more likely," Elson told the Wall Street Journal.

Louis Hirsh, director of admissions, was quoted in an Aug. 18 News Journal story about the newly released U.S. News & World Report rankings, in which UD is 27th among the nation's public universities and 67th among all universities, both public and private.

Muqtedar Khan, assistant professor of political science and international relations, was quoted in an Aug. 14 Chicago Sun-Times story and an Aug. 12 CBS Early Show interview about reasons for alienation among British Muslims. Khan said told Early Show anchor Tracy Smith that on a recent visit to England he found that nation's Muslims “do not have any systematic or deeply embedded engagement with the mainstream, and they feel isolated. They're also very poor, underemployed, living in poor housing. And as a result of that, I think that they feel alienated from the mainstream society, and their anger with the West is focused on Tony Blair's foreign policy and the U.S. foreign policy, particularly in Iraq and Lebanon.”

Jack Townsend, director of UD's Bank of America Career Services Center, was quoted in an Aug. 13 News Journal column about being a team player in the workplace.

Alan Fox, associate professor of philosophy, was quoted in an Aug. 13 News Journal story about spiritual renewal on beach vacations.

Thomas Brill, professor of chemistry and biochemistry, was featured in an Aug. 11 WHYY-TV Delaware Tonight segment on terrorism and bomb-making materials.

David Legates, associate professor of geography, was quoted in an Aug. 11 News Journal story on the threat to Delaware if the sea level rises or the oceans grow warmer.

Norman Wagner, Alvin B. and Julia O. Stiles Professor of Chemical Engineering, was featured in an August video report by Discoveries and Breakthroughs Inside Science on his liquid body armor research.

James T. Kirby, Edward C. Davis Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was featured in an August video report by Discoveries and Breakthroughs Inside Science on rip currents. Kirby studies wave action at UD's Center for Applied Coastal Research.
