Hearing screening offered Sept. 21 9:36 a.m., Aug. 23, 2006--One in three persons older than 60 has hearing loss. Hearing loss can happen gradually and individuals often do not recognize they have a hearing problem. Signs to look for include difficulty hearing on the telephone or when there is noise in the background or frequently having to ask individuals to repeat themselves. UD employees and retirees are invited to take a 5-minute hearing screening that will be offered from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, in 201 Jastak-Burgess Hall. An audiologist with Delaware Hearing Consultants will perform the tests, and results will be available immediately. “Taking the time for preventive screenings is important in maintaining optimal health,” Marianne Carter, Employee Wellness Center director, said. “Due to high demand for our summer hearing screening, we're happy to offer employees and retirees another opportunity to have their hearing screened this fall.” Cost for the screening is 10 Wellness Dollars. To schedule a five-minute appointment, call (302) 831-8388. |
