Wear Delaware colors on Sept. 1

11:16 a.m., Aug. 25, 2006--Students, faculty and staff, alumni, families and friends of UD--mark Friday, Sept. 1, as the day to don your favorite fashions bearing the UD logo and sporting the traditional Delaware blue and gold colors.

College Colors Day, observed nationwide, is a time to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that help make college special by encouraging fans, alumni and students to wear the apparel of their favorite school throughout the day.

At UD, the event will be marked by the promotion of the wearing of UD-themed gear at school sporting events, as well as a 20 percent discount at UD Bookstore locations on all items bearing the UD logo.

Curt Krouse, athletics marketing director, said students, alumni and fans of UD athletics are being encouraged to turn out at UD sporting events wearing the school's traditional colors as a show of support and school spirit.

“College Colors Day is a good way for UD students, staff and fans everywhere to demonstrate their school spirit,” Krouse said. “Our motto this fall is 'Fill the Tub with Delaware Blue,' and this reinforces our campaign this year to encourage all fans to wear Delaware Blue to all UD athletic events.”

“The University Bookstore has a wide range of products to help Delaware fans show their pride on College Colors Day,” Jennifer Galt, Bookstore manager, said. “To encourage participation, we are offering a special 20 percent discount on all logo merchandise on Sept. 1.”

Several schools are participating in College Color Days through the Collegiate Licensing Company, and it is suggested that companies and offices encourage their employees to have a “dress down” day and wear their school colors with pride on Friday, Sept. 1.
