Child-care training offered, register by Sept. 1 2:34 p.m., Aug. 2, 2006--For anyone interested in a career working with children, the University of Delaware will be offering a 21-session “Training in Early Care and Education I” course, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Mondays, starting Sept. 11 at the Early Learning Center on Wyoming Road in Newark. Developed by the Delaware Office of Child Care Licensing, the course prepares individuals to work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age youth. This is the first part of the course. The second session, “Training in Early Care and Education II,” will be offered in the spring. To be notified about the “Training in Early Care and Education II,” call (302) 831-3633. The two sessions meet child development associate (CDA) credentialing program requirements for child-care career development. Participants will learn about child development, safety, health and nutrition, how to plan learning activities and how to work with families. The course also is appropriate for those currently employed at child-care centers who are interested in enhancing their skills. Cost is $240 for tuition and materials.
