Active U exercise program begins Sept. 18

2:33 p.m., Aug. 18, 2006--“Active U,” an eight-week physical activity challenge sponsored by
UD's Employee Wellness Center, is now open for enrollment.

The program, which allows participants to set personal fitness goals and track them in a log, will run from Sept. 18-Nov. 12 and costs 15 Wellness Dollars.

According to Linda Smith, program coordinator, the “Active U” program is an excellent way for employees to make use of the University's fitness resources.

“University employees are fortunate to have such wonderful resources at their disposal to help them stay physically active,” Smith said. “We'll be highlighting a variety of University and local venues, such as recreational facilities, group exercise classes, walking paths and creative ways that employees can use to move more, despite their busy schedules.”

All participants who meet their goals and return their logs will receive an “Active U” T-shirt and a chance to win a $300 travel voucher from Uniglobe Charlie B. Travels on Main Street.

Employees may participate as an individual or as part of a team of up to five people. Both current employees and UD retirees may use their Wellness Dollars to participate.

Registration for the program is open through Tuesday, Sept. 12, but only employees who register before Thursday, Aug. 31, will be entered into a drawing for dinner for two at the Back Burner Restaurant in Hockessin.
