University IT issues warning on new ’worm’

5:53 p.m., April 12, 2007--UD Information Technologies has issued computer users a warning concerning a new “storm worm” that is making its way across the web.

The worm, which is sent via e-mail, claims to be a computer patch for a new worm that is making the rounds. The e-mail subject line includes phrases such as worm alert, worm detected, virus alert, attention, Trojan detected, worm activity detected, spyware detected, dream of you and virus activity detected.

It comes with two attachments, one an image and the other a password protected zip file, the password for which is revealed in the image.

IT advises, do not open these attachments and delete the messages immediately.
