UD women’s lacrosse preps for CAA tourney

9:15 a.m., April 30, 2007--The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team tuned up for the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament with a 15-4 victory over Villanova University on Friday night at Rullo Stadium.

The Fightin' Blue Hens finished the regular season 11-5 and will take on 12-4 James Madison University, which is ranked No. 17 nationally, in a conference tournament semifinal game at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 4. The Hens are ranked No. 20.

The tournament will be played at Hofstra University, which is the No. 1 seed and which will face 7-7 Old Dominion University in the other semifinal game.

In the victory over Villanova, Fightin' Blue Hens sophomore Debbie Sloan scored four goals and Katie Muth, Courtney Aburn and Amanda Alrich had two goals and one assist each.

Also scoring for the Hens were Nicole Flego, with one goal and two assists; Casey McCrudden, with one goal and one assist; and Emily Schaknowski, Courtney Flounders and Katie McCool, with one goal apiece.

UD goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny had four saves and Jordan Fischer, who played the last 15 minutes of the game, had three.
