UD women’s lacrosse splits two CAA contests

9:27 a.m., April 23, 2007--The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team split two Colonial Athletic Association games this weekend, defeating Hofstra University 9-6 on Friday night at Rullo Stadium but then falling 15-9 at Drexel University on Sunday afternoon.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for UD, and the No. 20 ranked Fightin' Blue Hens are now 9-5 overall and 5-2 in the conference. The Hens will return to action with a game against Loyola College Of Maryland at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, at Rullo Stadium.

They will then close the regular season with a home game against Villanova University at 7 p.m., Friday, April 27.

In Friday's win, UD got four goals from freshman attack Nicole Flego and three from fellow freshman Courtney Aburn. Senior Katie Muth and sophomore Debbie Sloan both had one goal and one assist, and junior Casey McCrudden had an assist. UD sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny had 13 saves.

In the loss to Drexel, Aburn had three goals, McCrudden had two goals and three assists and Sloan had two goals. Muth had a goal and two assists and Flego had a goal. Freshman midfielder Emily Schaknowski had two assists, and Cerveny had nine saves.
