UD women’s lacrosse splits weekend contests
UD freshman Nicole Flego scored three goals against George Mason and five against James Madison.
8:08 a.m., April 9, 2007--The University of Delaware women's lacrosse team split a pair of weekend Colonial Athletic Association road games, defeating George Mason 15-11 on Friday before falling 19-16 to No. 6 ranked James Madison University on Sunday.

The Fightin' Blue Hens, who entered weekend play ranked No. 20 in the nation, are now 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the CAA. They will return to action with a conference game against the College of William and Mary at 7 p.m., Friday, April 13, at Rullo Stadium.

Delaware jumped out to a quick start in the victory over George Mason, scoring the first four goals of the game. Freshmen Courtney Aburn had four goals and an assist, Nicole Flego had three goals and three assists and Emily Schaknowski had two goals and two assists. Also scoring two goals each for the Hens were sophomore Debbie Sloan, senior Katie Muth and junior Casey McCrudden. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny had 12 saves.

In the loss to James Madison, which snapped a five-game UD winning streak, Flego had five goals and two assists and Muth had five goals and one assist. Sloan had three goals and two assists, Aburn had two goal and Schaknowski had one goal and two assists. Cerveny had five saves.
