Capsouras leads Hens at Rider track meet
Alexi Capsouras won two individual events and ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay team on Saturday at the Rider Invitational.
8:08 a.m., April 16, 2007--Alexi Capsouras won two individual races and ran a leg on a winning relay as the University of Delaware women's track and field team finished second in the Rider University Invitational held Saturday afternoon in Lawrenceville, N.J. The UD men's team finished in fourth place.

Capsouras won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.98 and the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.21. Also, she teamed with Liz Harvin, Cristine Marquez and Kellyn Wright to win the 4x400-meter relay in 3:56.92.

Also winning events for the UD women's team were Rachel Young in the discus (137 feet, 10 inches), Kelli McDonald in the pole vault (career best 11 feet, 11.75 inches), Christina Antonopoulos in the 1,500-meter run (4:44.79) and Asha Quant in the 200-meter dash (25.66). The 4x100 meter relay team of Harvin, Daniella Price, Quant and Brittany Wright also took first place (48.67).

Amanda Marshall was second in the shot put and third in the discus, Young was second in the hammer, Laura Chirico was second in the pole vault, Wright was second in the 200 meters and third in the 100 meters, and Quant was second in the 100 meters.

For the UD men's team, Gregg Cantwell captured the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:00.25. Also for the Fightin' Blue Hens, Jared Wasser was second in the shot put, fourth in the hammer and fifth in the discus, Brandon Swartout was second in the long jump and Matt Guida was second in the pole vault.

The UD women's team finished second with 162 points, just one behind the 163 earned by meet champion Sacred Heart University. Sacred Heart also won the men's team title with 160 points, while the Hens finished fourth with 90.
