Hofstra sweeps Hens in CAA softball series
Kim Ovittore had hits in all three games against Hofstra, driving in the lone UD run in Sunday’s contest.
9 a.m., April 23, 2007--Hofstra University complete a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series sweep over the visiting University of Delaware with a 2-1 victory in eight innings on Sunday. The Pride took both ends of a doubleheader, 2-0 and 7-0, on Saturday.

The Fightin' Blue Hens are now 14-21-2 overall and 5-9 in the conference. A scheduled doubleheader at Bucknell University on Wednesday, April 25, has been postponed because of the threat of rain. The Hens will return to action with a CAA series at home against George Mason University. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at noon, Saturday, April 28, and a single game at noon, Sunday, April 29.

Last Sunday's game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth, when Hofstra took a 1-0 lead aided by a pair of UD errors. The Hens tied the game, scoring their only run of the weekend, when Katie DeSalvo walked and later scored on a single by Kim Ovittore.

Ovittore had three hits and Michelle Plant had the only other UD hit. UD senior Carolynn Sloat went the distance and took the loss.

Ovittore and Katie Lee had the only UD hits in both games on Saturday.
