Blue Hen softball team wins finale at Towson
UD senior pitcher Carolynn Sloat has 58 wins as a Fightin’ Blue Hen.
7:49 a.m., April 2, 2007--After dropping the first two games of a Colonial Athletic Association series at Towson University, the University of Delaware softball team took Sunday's getaway game 6-0.

The Fightin' Blue Hens are now 8-14-1 overall and 2-4 in the CAA. They will return home for a doubleheader against LaSalle University at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 4.

In the Sunday victory, UD senior pitcher Carolynn Sloat tied the school record for career wins with her 58th. She went the distance, allowing just three hits and striking out three batters. Sloat is 58-50 in her career with the Hens and tied the record set by Kristi O'Connell, who went 58-33 from 1997-2000.

The Hens broke on top with three runs in the first. Shortstop Kim Oviottore had the big hit, a two-run double. Rightfielder Cecile Egan also had a run-scoring single in the inning.

In Saturday's doubleheader, the Hens lost 1-0 and 3-0. Sloat took the loss in the first game and Samantha Shawn in the second.
