UD figure skaters plan send-off show Monday

10:12 a.m., April 5, 2007--The University of Delaware collegiate skating team will be featured in a national send-off show at 9 p.m., Monday, April 9, at the Fred Rust Arena and admission is free.

The team will compete in the U.S. intercollegiate team skating championships to be held April 13-15 at Thompson Arena on the campus of Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.

Dartmouth has won the last three national championships and won a competition at UD in March.

The UD collegiate skating team is a club sport and is coached by Tiffany Scott, a national pair champion and 2002 Olympian. Scott, who also is a UD student, is featured as a skating double for actress Amy Poehler in the hit Will Ferrell comedy Blades of Glory.

She said the skating team has been working very hard and is “hoping to go to the collegiate championships at Dartmouth to shake things up and maybe come back with a national title.”
