Panel to feature UD alums in journalism

5:07 p.m., April 30, 2007--A panel on careers for journalism program graduates featuring UD alums will be held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, in 104 Gore Hall.

The following alumni will be members of the panel:

  • Sharon Breske, AS '90, editor of the national monthly radiology magazine ADVANCE for Imaging and Oncology Administrators;
  • Casey Gilmore, AS '84, a financial writer at The Vanguard Group, a Pennsylvania mutual fund company with $1.16 trillion in assets. Among other assignments, she writes for Vanguard newsletters, webcasts and podcasts;
  • Katie Grasso, AS '05, communications manager for the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. She previously was a business reporter for The Courier-Post in South Jersey;
  • Betsy Lowther, AS '99, a freelance writer who has been based in Singapore since early 2006, writing about fashion, culture, lifestyle and trends from cities around Asia for Conde Nast's Fairchild Publications and other magazines and newspapers. She was previously on the staff of Working Mother and Harper's Bazaar magazines;
  • Michael Pollock, AS '02, managing editor of Out and About and CityLife magazines in Wilmington and a freelance music writer;
  • Rob Wherry, AS '95, a senior writer at SmartMoney.com, where he covers mutual funds and other personal finance topics, and a weekly columnist for the Wall Street Journal. He previously was a senior reporter at Forbes magazine and a staff editor at George magazine.
