Both Blue Hen lacrosse teams are in top 20
UD freshman Courtney Aburn has been named the CAA rookie of the week.
1:49 p.m., April 3, 2007--Both University of Delaware lacrosse teams are ranked in the top 20 this week, with the 6-3 men's team at No. 14 in both the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and Nike Inside Lacrosse polls and the 5-3 women's team at No. 20 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll.

For the UD women's team, which also received votes in the Nike Inside Lacrosse poll, it is the first time in the national rankings since 2005. All three of the team's losses have been to teams currently ranked in the top 20: Penn State University, the University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers University.

It was a big week for the Fightin' Blue Hens, who are on a four-game winning streak, as they won a pair of games and swept weekly honors in the Colonial Athletic Association. Senior Katie Muth was named the conference player of the week and freshman Courtney Aburn was named the rookie of the week. Muth had six goals and four assists in UD's two games, and Aburn had six goals and three assists.

UD will return to action on Friday, April 6, at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. The Hens will then visit No. 6 James Madison University on Sunday, April 8. Both are CAA contests.

The UD men's lacrosse team, which has been ranked for much of the season, has losses to top 10 teams from the University at Albany, Duke University and Georgetown University.

The Hens will return to action with a CAA game at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at Drexel University. A conference showdown with Towson University, also ranked in the top 20, is scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at Rullo Stadium.
