Newark Police investigate hit-and-run

10:56 a.m., April 30, 2007--Newark Police are investigating a hit-and-run collision early Saturday morning in which a 28-year-old man from Quarryville, Pa., was seriously injured.

The accident occurred at 1:11 a.m., Saturday, April 28, near 30 East Main St. in Newark. The man was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a yellow Jeep Wrangler with a black convertible top.

The Jeep, which was occupied by two men, sustained damage to the passenger side headlight and hood areas. It was last seen going west on Main Street. Before the collision, the vehicle was seen weaving in and out of traffic and exceeding the speed limit.

The pedestrian suffered leg and head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Christiana Medical Center.
