Talk on 'Growing Up Poor' slated May 7

2:10 p.m., April 25, 2007--"Growing up Poor: Parenting and Preschool Programs as Avenues to Success” is the topic of a talk scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, at UD. The talk, by Jeanne Brooks-Gunn, the Virginia and Leonard Marx Professor of Child Development at Teachers College and the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., at UD's Early Learning Center.

Brooks-Gunn is one of the foremost developmental psychologists of her generation, specializing in policy-oriented research on family and community influences on the development of young children. Her research centers on designing and evaluating interventions and policies that enhance the well-being of children living in poverty.
