Blue Hen golf team finishes sixth at Navy

9:18 a.m., April 9, 2007--Joe McLister shot a 73 and Josh Williamowsky fired a 74 Friday to lead the University of Delaware golf team to a sixth place team finish at the weather-shortened Navy Invitational held at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis.

The second and final round scheduled for Saturday was canceled due to inclement weather, making Friday's action the final result. The tournament was Delaware's final tune-up before the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament to be held April 20-22 at The Homestead Golf Club in Hot Springs, Va.

UD shot a team score of 305 (21 over par) Friday to finished tied for sixth out of 25 teams in the tournament. The Fightin' Blue Hens have finished among the top 10 teams in six straight tournaments since the fall.

St. Bonaventure University was declared the team winner with a score of 300, edging runner-up Longwood by one stroke. Pennsylvania was third, followed by Loyola, Seton Hall, Delaware, George Washington, Bucknell, Navy Gold, Drexel and Millersville.

Also for the Hens, Jason Bernstein finished 31st with a score of 77, Jeff Griest finished 80th with an 81, and Tommy Ellison finished 90th with a score of 82.
