UD swimmer Blomberg honored by conference
UD’s Adam Blomberg is the CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s swimming.
8:17 a.m., April 27, 2007--University of Delaware junior Adam Blomberg has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's swimming, the conference has announced.

The CAA honors a scholar-athlete in each of the 21 sports that it sponsors based on nominations from school sports information directors. Nominees must have grade point averages of 3.2 or higher.

Blomberg, a junior from Kennewick, Wash., is a three-year letter winner and a Dean's List student who is majoring in physics with a minor in business and management information systems. He has a 3.79 grade point average, has been named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll three times and is a candidate for College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America honors.

Blomberg was on relay teams that set three school records this past season. The 200 freestyle relay team set a new mark of 1:24.50, the 400 freestyle relay team set a new mark of 3:08.24, and the 800 freestyle relay team set a new mark of 6:53.59.

Blomberg has registered 23 career top 10 finishes at the CAA championships in his three seasons, including sixth place finishes in both the 200 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay at the 2007 championship meet. Individually, he finished 14th in the 100 butterfly and 16th in the 200 butterfly at this year's CAA meet.

Blomberg is the second UD scholar-athlete to be honored as conference scholar-athlete of the year in 2006-07. UD men's soccer standout Matt Haney received the award following the fall season.
