Blue Hen Weekend: Lacrosse teams at Rullo
The UD women’s lacrosse team will take on Hofstra University at 7 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Rullo Stadium.
7:58 a.m., April 20, 2007--The University of Delaware lacrosse teams will be in action this weekend, with both nationally ranked squads playing home games at Rullo Stadium.

The No. 18 ranked UD women's team will take on Hofstra University in a Colonial Athletic Association game at 7 p.m., Friday, April 20, at Rullo.

The Fightin' Blue Hens are 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the CAA, and are ranked No. 18 in the most recent NCAA Division I Nike Inside Lacrosse poll and No. 20 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll. UD has won seven of its last eight games.

The Hens are coming off victories over the College of William and Mary and Old Dominion University, and feature conference rookie of the week Courtney Aburn, a freshman attack. Both Aburn and fellow freshman Nicole Flego have been honored in recent weeks by the conference.

Hofstra is 7-4 overall and 4-0 in the conference, and received votes in the Nike Inside Lacrosse poll.

Following the Friday home game, UD will travel to Drexel University for another conference contest at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 22.

The No. 18 ranked UD men's lacrosse team can clinch a spot in the CAA championship tournament if it defeats Sacred Heart University in a game to be played at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 21, at Rullo Stadium.

The Hens are 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while Sacred Heart is 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference. UD freshman midfielder Curtis Dickson, who scored four goals in the 19-18 victory over Villanova University, is the CAA rookie of the week.

In other weekend action, the UD tennis teams are competing in the CAA championship tournament in at Huntington Park in Newport News, Va. The tournament opened Thursday and will continue through Sunday, April 22.

The UD rowing team is competing at the Kerr Cup in Philadelphia, which also serves as the conference championship regatta, and the track and field teams are competing in the conference championship meet at James Madison University. Also, the golf team is competing in the conference championships at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.

UD's baseball team is playing a three-game conference series at Old Dominion University, with games at 7 p.m., Friday, at 5 p.m., Saturday, and at 2 p.m., Sunday. The softball team is playing at Hofstra University, with a doubleheader beginning at noon, Saturday, and a single game at noon, Sunday.
