Blue Hen Weekend: Action aplenty at UD

8:26 a.m., April 13, 2007--The University of Delaware will be alive with activity this weekend, with home games for the baseball, softball, women's lacrosse and tennis teams. In addition, the Fightin' Blue Hens football team will hold the annual Blue-White scrimmage at noon Saturday, April 14, at Delaware Stadium.

Tennis will provide the weekend's first action, with UD serving as host of a Colonial Athletic Association Tennis Weekend. The event, which brings teams from Towson, Hofstra and James Madison universities and the University of North Carolina Wilmington to campus, will begin at 9 a.m., Friday, April 13, at the Delaware Field House tennis courts. Action will resume at 9 a.m., Saturday, and again at 9 a.m., Sunday.

The UD men's team will face UNC Wilmington at 9 a.m., Friday, James Madison at noon, Saturday, and Hofstra at noon, Sunday. The UD women's team will face Hofstra at 3 p.m., Saturday, and Towson at 3 p.m., Sunday.

UD's baseball team, which hopes to extend a four-game winning streak, will play a weekend CAA series against UNC Wilmington, with the opener at 3 p.m., Friday, at Bob Hannah Stadium. The series will continue with games at 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Also at home for a conference series is the UD softball team, which will face James Madison. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at noon, Saturday, and a single game at noon, Sunday.

The No. 20-ranked UD women's lacrosse team will play two games this weekend, both on the home turf of Rullo Stadium. The Hens will meet the College of William and Mary at 7 p.m., Friday, and Old Dominion University at noon, Sunday.

Also this weekend, the UD rowing team will compete in the Knecth Cup in Camden, N.J., on Saturday and Sunday, the men's lacrosse team will travel to Villanova University for a CAA game at 7 p.m., Saturday, and the track teams will compete in the Rider Invitational on Saturday.
