Delaware nine edges Temple in 10 innings
A hit by Alex Buchholz lifted the Hens past Temple.
9:49 p.m., April 17, 2007--A bases-loaded hit by shortstop Alex Buchholz in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the University of Delaware to a 7-6 victory over Temple University in a nonconference baseball game played Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.

With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens have now won seven straight games to improve to 14-16 on the season. The Hens will take to the road for a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series this weekend at Old Dominion University.

On Tuesday, Temple jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning before the Hens rallied for four runs in the bottom half of the fifth. Third baseman Ryan Jablonski doubled to right center to drive in right fielder Danny Overcash, who led off the inning with a single. Second baseman Kyle Davis, who also singled, then scored on a sacrifice fly by center fielder Brandon Menchaca.

Buchholz doubled down the leftfield line to drive in Jablonski and then scored on a single by left fielder Bryan Hagerich.

Temple regained the lead 6-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth, when Menchaca led off with a home run to send the game into extra innings and set up the game winning hit by Buchholz.

Reliever Steve Spiese got the win for the Hens, working the final two innings. He allowed no hits and no runs, and struck out four batters.
