Blue Hen baseball team wins two CAA games
Bryan Hagerich hit two home runs and drove in five runs in Sunday’s victory over George Mason.
8:57 a.m., April 9, 2007--After dropping the opener, the University of Delaware baseball team bounced back to win two out of three in a Colonial Athletic Association weekend series at George Mason University.

The Fightin' Blue Hens fell 7-6 on Friday but rebounded to win 6-2 on Saturday and 12-0 on Sunday. UD is now 9-16 overall and 5-7 in the conference. The Hens will return to action with a nonconference game at Delaware State University at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, and then will return home to face Rutgers University at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at Bob Hannah Stadium.

In Friday's loss, Delaware went ahead 3-0 in the first inning but was unable to fend off George Mason. Bryan Hagerich, Brandon Menchaca and Danny Overcash hit home runs for the Hens. Hagerich finished with two hits, three runs batted in and two runs scored. Starter Brent Gaphardt took the loss.

UD's Billy Harris went seven innings to pick up the win on Saturday, striking out seven batters and allowing just two runs. David Slovak worked two scoreless innings of relief. Ryan Jablonski and Bill Merkler hit home runs for the Hens.

On Sunday, UD pitcher Chad Kerfoot allowed just two hits in eight innings of work to earn the win. Hagerich had three hits, including two home runs, drove in five runs and scored two. Overcash and Adam Tsakonas drove in three runs each, and Jablonski tied a UD record with three doubles
