Newark man charged with falsely reporting robbery

2:02 p.m., April 17, 2007--Newark Police have arrested Justin Rogers, 24, of Old Side Court in Newark, and charged him with falsely reporting a robbery.

On April 12, Rogers reported being robbed at gunpoint after making a delivery for Pizza University in the 1200 block of Wharton Drive in the Pine Brook Apartment Complex. Detectives later determined that the robbery never occurred and that Rogers had stolen money belonging to his employer.

Rogers was arrested April 16 for falsely reporting an alleged incident to a law officer and theft under $1,000. He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court #2 and was released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
