Smoke forces temporary evacuation of Wolf Hall

12:21 p.m., April 11, 2007--An elevator freeze-up, which resulted in a belt slippage and an overheated elevator motor, caused the evacuation of Wolf Hall at 11:07 a.m., Wednesday, April 11.

Drew Bowerson, deputy fire chief of Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Co., which responded to the alarm caused by smoke from the elevator motor, said that there were no injuries and the building was reopened at around 11:35 a.m.

One of the building's two elevators has been taken out of service until repairs are completed on the affected unit.
