UD field hockey wins two weekend games

10:30 a.m., Oct. 31, 2005--The University of Delaware field hockey team closed the season with a pair of weekend victories, defeating Drexel University 2-1 in overtime in a Colonial Athletic Association game on Friday and topping La Salle University 3-0 in a nonconference game Sunday. Both games were played at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.

With the wins, the Fightin’ Blue Hens finished 8-11 overall and 2-6 in the CAA.

In the game against Drexel, sophomore Molly Burke scored both goals for the Hens, including the game-winner in overtime. Juniors Stephanie Swain and Amanda Warrington had assists on the two goals. UD goalkeeper Megan Allen had seven saves.

Against La Salle, Casey Howard scored the first goal to put the Hens up 1-0 and senior Amber Deimler scored two additional goals. Howard and Warrington had assists. Allen started the game in goal and had two saves before giving way to Nikki Rhoads.

Ceremonies prior to the game honored seniors Deimler, Carly Campana and Kaili Kao.
