Atlantic 10 recognizes Delaware’s Mulhern

1:39 p.m., Nov. 14, 2005--University of Delaware senior linebacker John Mulhern has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week following the Fightin’ Blue Hens’ 22-21 victory over the College of William & Mary on Saturday in Williamsburg, Va.

Mulhern’s interception at the UD 38-yard line with 9:14 remaining set up the Hens’ game-winning touchdown.

He also teamed with freshman defensive end Matt Marcorelle to sack William & Mary quarterback Jacob Phillips in the end zone for a two-point safety with 11:35 left in the game. That made the score 21-16 and put the Hens in striking distance.

In all, Mulhern had seven tackles, including 1.5 sacks. Five of those tackles were unassisted.
