Desk calendars feature coastal treasures

The 2006 College of Marine Studies' desk calendar features 12 stunning photographs of Delaware's coastal treasures in a convenient pop-up display stand.
3:43 p.m., Nov. 4, 2005--Those who want to get a jump on their holiday gift shopping ought to check out the 2006 desk calendar from UD’s College of Marine Studies.

New this year, the calendar is presented in a slim plastic case--similar in size to a CD case--that opens to form a display stand for the 12 monthly calendar cards inside, which also makes it convenient to “snap it shut” and carry it with you.

The front of the calendar features a photograph of the Harbor of Refuge Light in Lewes, with important dates for 2006 listed on the back. Each monthly card features a stunning photo of a Delaware coastal treasure such as sanderlings, the “wind-up” toys of the shorebird world; a diamondback terrapin turtle; summertime at Rehoboth Beach, the “Nation’s Summer Capital”; and a colorful marsh hibiscus flower. Information about each photo subject is noted on the back of the card, where there also is room for marking important dates.

Cost is $6, plus $1.50 for shipping and handling. Order by calling the Marine Public Education Office in Newark at (302) 831-8083 or the Delaware Sea Grant Marine Advisory Service in Lewes at (302) 645-4346.
