‘Romantic Evening at the Opera’ set Nov. 18

4:01 p.m., Nov. 16, 2005--“A Romantic Evening at the Opera,” will be presented at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, in Mitchell Hall, as the second concert in UD’s second annual Master Players Chamber Series.

The vocal recital will feature some of the opera world’s most prestigious performers, including Susanne Mentzer, American mezzosoprano; William Ferguson, New York Metropolitan Opera Company tenor; Martin Katz, world-famous collaborative pianist; and Daniel Cole, UD faculty vocalist, bass-baritone. The concert program will include art songs by Ravel, Schubert and Gounod, arias by Mozart and a set of Americana songs.

The next event in the series will be “Ceruti Unlimited!--Xiang Gao and Friends II,” a performance by world-renowned UD faculty violin virtuoso Xiang Gao playing UD’s Ceruti violin. He will perform classical, bluegrass, jazz and more on Friday, Feb. 24, with special guest stars from around the world.

The series will conclude with “Bravo! Amadeus!” a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on Friday, May 12. The gala concert dedicated to his music will feature Eugenia Zuckerman, flute; Qing Li, violin; Nicholas Tzavaras, cello; Peter Landgren, horn; Anthea Kreston, viola; and Julie Nishimura, piano. Honoring the music of the master, this concert will be the largest classical music concert on campus during spring semester.
