Nagy throws nine TDs in Arena playoff win
10:07 a.m., May 22, 2006--Matt Nagy, the former star quarterback for the University of Delaware, threw for 362 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the Georgia Force to a 72-69 victory over the New York Dragons in the opening round of the Arena Football League playoffs on Sunday at Nassau Coliseum. Nagy threw for the winning touchdown with just 49 seconds left, hitting Tyronne Jones on a 42-yard toss. In all, he completed 28 of 39 passes and scored one touchdown rushing. His nine touchdown throws set a new franchise playoff record. Georgia, which also includes former Fightin' Blue Hen wide receiver Jamin Elliott on its roster, will continue its playoff march with a game at the Dallas Desperados on Saturday, May 27. Former UD lineman Joe Minucci's Nashville Kats were eliminated from the playoffs 55-47 by the Chicago Rush. However, earlier in the week, Minucci was named second team All-Arena Football League for his play on the offensive and defensive lines this season. |
