Reading by short story writer Wednesday

6:21 p.m., May 2, 2006--UD alumnus Anthony Varallo will read from his fiction at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, in 127 Memorial Hall. During the reading, Varallo also will announce the annual English department writing award winners, whose work will appear in UD's literary magazine, Caesura.

Varallo's short story collection, This Day in History, won the 2005 John Simmons Short Fiction Award, and he has received an National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Fellowship in Literature. Varallo currently teaches English at the College of Charleston, where he also is fiction editor for Crazyhorse.

Sponsored by the Department of English, the reading is free and open to the public. Books will available to purchase at the reading.
