Darcy Margaret O'Brien
 

Feb. 25, 2006--Darcy Margaret O'Brien, 22, a 2005 graduate of the University of Delaware, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Feb. 22 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Harrisburg, Pa., she graduated in 2001 from Carlisle High School, where she participated in many activities including her high school yearbook, field hockey, cheerleading and the National Honor Society.

While at UD, she wrote articles for the student newspaper, The Review. She also was a member of Alpha Phi sorority, where she assumed a leadership role in recruitment activities. She was a member of the National Association of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key Society. During the summer before her junior year, she traveled to Italy in the University's study abroad program. She graduated with honors with a degree in English in May 2005.

After graduation, she was employed by PSG Staffing Associates in Boston.

Ms. O'Brien is survived by her parents, Robert L. and Ruth D. O'Brien of Carlisle, Pa.; her sister, Colleen K. O'Brien; her grandmother, Lenore H. Duncan, and her grandfather, Robert L. O'Brien; aunts and uncles Dr. Joan Adams, Anne and Robert Masland, William and Linda Duncan and Susan and Charles O'Brien; Charles, Christopher, Matthew and Megan O'Brien, Robert and Gillian Masland and Kelly Duncan; and her friend, Jason Kirk.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Canon Mark A. Scheneman, rector, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 2, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Carlisle, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 125 South Hanover St., Carlisle, Pa., or to The Cumberland Valley Habitat for Humanity, 39 Heisers Lane, Carlisle, Pa..
