Sophomore takes top ballet honors

4:17 p.m., Feb. 10, 2006--Aynsley Taylor Inglis, a UD sophomore, swept two categories at the 2006 Youth American Grand Prix regional ballet competition in Philadelphia on Jan. 28.

Inglis won first place in the senior classical ballet and senior contemporary ballet categories. She will compete in the Grand Prix Finals at the New York City Center on April 19-22.

The finals will feature regional winners from all over the world. Scouts from top ballet companies and schools will be watching the performances, and the winner will receive a contract with American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company.

Inglis said she will repeat her regional routine and wear the same costumes for the finals competition.

She said her first place finishes at the regional level probably will place her in a good position at the finals. This will be her third year attending the finals competition.
