Alex Kahoe appointed associate head coach
We are excited to announce Alexs promotion, UD Head Coach Kim Ciarrocca said. She has been an outstanding assistant on our staff and has demonstrated great recruiting ability. She relates very well with our players and their families. Kahoe served one season under former head coach Denise Wescott and was retained on the staff when Ciarrocca took the helm for the 2005 season. She helped lead the Fightin Blue Hens to an 8-8 record, a national ranking and a berth in the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament. A 2000 graduate of the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and sociology, Kahoe began her coaching career at her alma mater, serving as an assistant to head coach Cindy Timchal until August 2002, when she moved to the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant under head coach Karen Brower. She joined the UD staff for the 2004 season. Kahoe enjoyed an outstanding career at Maryland as a goalkeeper, helping lead the Terrapins to multiple NCAA Division I and Atlantic Coast Conference championships. She was a three-time team captain, earned All-American honors in 1998, 1999 and 2000, and was the NCAA Goalie of the Year her final two seasons. Still an active player, Kahoe has been a member of the USA National Lacrosse Team since 1997 and has played with the Toyota Lacrosse Team since 2000. In January 2005, she was selected to compete for a spot on the 2005 U.S. Womens Lacrosse Team. |
