UD’s Disabella is host of sports health show

4:31 p.m., Dec. 12, 2005--Dr. Vincent Disabella, sports medicine physician for the University of Delaware, is the host of the new Sports Health Highlight show on the VoiceAmerica online radio network.

The talk show airs at 7 p.m. Tuesdays on the VoiceAmerica Health and Wellness channel, which can be found at [www.health.voiceamerica.com].

Sports Health Highlight addresses public health issues, injury prevention, strength and conditioning and alternative medicine as they pertain to the care of athletes and people living healthy lifestyles.

Lynn Snyder-Mackler, UD professor of physical therapy, will discuss the importance of physical therapy in knee injuries as a guest on the show Tuesday, Dec. 13. Previous program topics have included concussions in sports, triathlon training, sports hernias and medical problems in youth sports.

Disabella has been with UD since 1999. He came to the University after having served as sports medicine and internal medicine physician at the Healthplex Sports Medicine Institute in Springfield, Pa.

He is a fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine and was board certified by the American Osteopathic Board in Internal Medicine in 1998. He was board certified by the American Osteopathic Board in Sports Medicine in 1999.

A native of Ringtown, Pa., Disabella earned his bachelor's degree in biology from Albright College in 1987 and earned his doctor of osteopathy degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1992.
