In Memoriam 3 p.m., April 13, 2006--Sandra R. “Sandi” Dahn, 59, of Wilmington, died April 3, of leukemia, in Christiana Hospital. Born in Inglewood, Calif., on July 19, 1946, Mrs. Dahn lived her entire life in Delaware. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in home economics and child development. A librarian at the Linden Hill Elementary School for the past 10 years, Mrs. Dahn also taught special education and kindergarten in the Smyrna, Capital and Red Clay school districts. She also attended classes to get her library and media specialist certificate. Mrs. Dahn loved animals and kept assorted pets in her library at Linden Hill Elementary School. She and her family rescued many dogs and cats over the years, including current pets Sam, Kelly and Esme. A loving wife, devoted mother, good friend and well-liked teacher, Mrs. Dahn enjoyed reading and traveling. Since 1994, when her son, Brian Douglas, died of leukemia, Mrs. Dahn had been active in Compassionate Friends, a self-help group of people who have lost a child, grandchild or sibling. She was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Richard L. Dahn, and her daughter, Nancy Leigh Dahn. She also leaves behind many relatives and friends. A remembrance of Mrs. Dahn's life was held April 10 at Hockessin Friends Meeting. Burial was in Hockessin Friends Cemetery.
