UD Opera performs 'Magic Flute' April 28, 29

5:19 p.m., April 26, 2006--UD's Department of Music will present Mozart's The Magic Flute at 8 p.m., Friday, April 28, and again at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 29, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

Directed by Daniel Cole and conducted by Brian Stone, the debut production of UD Opera Theatre will be the first complete opera production with orchestra performed at UD. In honor of Mozart's 250th birthday, they will present his masterpiece opera in the English translation by Andrew Porter.

The performance will feature a different student cast each night: Charles Hannagan and Youl-Yi Seong will play Tamino, Katie Ayash and Sarah Peterson will play Pamina, Paul Stamenda and Clayton Okaly will be Papageno, Shiloh Wersen will sing the Queen of the Night and Timothy Osgood will sing Sarastro.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter Center box offices.
