'Emmanuel's Gift' to be screened April 25

4:23 p.m., April 18, 2006--UD's Center for Disabilities Studies and the Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with Cognitive DisABILITIES will screen Emmanuel's Gift at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, in Multipurpose Room A in the Trabant University Center.

The first of many films and events in the Life Portraits Series, the documentary will tell the story of an orphan with disabilities in Ghana, West Africa, and how he triumphed over the prejudice against those with disabilities in his country. After the film, there will be a panel discussion with filmmaker Nancy Stern.

Life Portraits is a community awareness speaker and film series designed to educate and inform the public about the lives of people with disabilities. Speakers, films and interactive events will address the negative stereotypes and increase awareness of those with disabilities.
