Grad programs cited among nations best 12:05 a.m., April 1, 2005--UDs graduate program in chemical engineering is again rated among the 10 best in the nation, the criminology doctoral program is ranked 14th and graduate teacher education at UD has moved higher in the top ranks in the forthcoming 2006 edition of U.S.News & World Reports Americas Best Graduate Schools. New ratings for the 2006 edition also include graduate programs in other engineering disciplines, as well as the departments of English, history and psychology. Overall, UDs College of Engineering was ranked 47th in graduate education, tied with Arizona State University. Other UD graduate engineering disciplines ranked this year are In UDs College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy, the School of Educations graduate program was ranked at 40, tying with Washington University in St. Louis. UD also is featured in a chart, Teacher preparation at the top education schools, which includes information on accreditation, enrollment, number of full-time faculty and preparation offered for national certification. Four Ph.D. programs in the College of Arts and Sciences are ranked this year: Faculty and students should be pleased by this national recognition of these graduate programs, Provost Dan Rich said. The University has many other graduate programs that are recognized to be among the best in their fields but were not included in this rating report. The University of Delaware currently has nearly 3,400 students pursuing masters and doctoral degrees in 118 degree programs across all seven colleges. Americas Best Graduate Schools, a newsstand book, will be available on April 4, and some of the ranking information also will appear in the April 11 edition of U.S.News & World Report, which goes on sale the same day.
