3 Delaware Symphony concerts set for UD

Tickets for individual performances are $30 each and go on sale Monday, Aug. 1. Student tickets for those 18 and under are $10, and student rush tickets are $10 with ID, 30 minutes before the performance. All ticket sales are subject to a box office service charge and are nonrefundable. 2005 DSO inaugural concerts The Delaware Symphony Orchestra will celebrate its 100th anniversary with performances, featuring Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Olga Kern, at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington. The program will feature Kern in Tchaikovskys Piano Concerto No. 1 and will include Tchaikovskys Polonaise from Eugene Onegin and Symphony No. 5 in E Minor. In 2001, Kern was the first woman to receive the Van Cliburn Gold Medal in more than 30 years. She has performed with the Boston Pops and at the Kennedy Center and has played with orchestras throughout the United States. There will be a preperformance conversation with UD professor and orchestra conductor, Brian Stone. To celebrate DSOs 100th anniversary, there will be cake, special surprises for the audience, a CD signing and musician and guest artist meet-and-greets with coffee and sweet treats during the evening.
