Help applying for parking permits

3:38 p.m., Aug. 25, 2004--UD’s Office of Human Resources and Parking Services are teaming up once again to help students purchase parking permits online this fall.

Applications for parking permits can be submitted at any time at [www.udel.edu/permits]. However, human resources staff will be available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 30-31, in the lobby at 413 Academy St. that it shares with Parking Services, to help students who want help applying for a parking permit online.

Student permits also can be purchased in person at Parking Services. Parking Services hours for purchasing permits in person are:

  • Through Friday, Aug. 27, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.;
  • Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 28-29, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.;
  • Monday-Thursday, Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.;
  • Friday, Sept. 3, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.;
  • Monday, Sept. 6, Labor Day, closed;
  • Tuesday-Thursday, Sept. 7-9, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; and
  • Monday-Friday, starting Sept. 10, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Students should bring their University IDs or photo IDs, as well as registration documents for vehicles being registered. Students who register online can pay by UD Flex or credit card, but those who prefer to pay by cash or check should see a Parking Services representative.

Richie Holland, manager of human resources, and Denise Tuttle, administrative assistant in Public Safety, said both departments hope to build on the success of last year’s collaborative effort.

“We want to continue to better serve students while providing more support to students who might want to use the web to purchase a permit,” Holland said. “This is a great cross-unit effort and should continue to keep human resources personnel involved with students on things besides payroll issues.”

Jenni Sparks, coordinator in Public Safety, said, “The web continues to help reduce our lines while permitting students and staff to purchase parking at their convenience. Employee permits are sent through campus mail. Retiree permits are mailed to them. The web site is available year-round, and so far this year we have processed over 6,300 online permit requests.”

Student permits purchased online can be picked beginning Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Perkins Parking Garage office, 413 Academy St. during attended hours from 7 a.m.-1 a.m.

Nonstudent employees, including vendor employees and miscellaneous wage employees also can purchase parking permits in person at Parking Services.

Carpooling patrons must register in person with their carpool partner at Parking Services.
