New York Jets sign Nerys to practice squad

10:23 a.m., Sept. 15, 2004--The University of Delaware’s Jason Nerys, an All-American offensive lineman on the 2003 NCAA Division I-AA national championship team, has been signed to the New York Jets practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.

Nerys is one of four members of the championship team now on National Football League practice squads. Quarterback Andy Hall is with the Philadelphia Eagles, defensive lineman Shawn Johnson is with the Tennessee Titans and defensive back Mike Adams is with the San Francisco 49ers.

Nerys and Adams were co-captains of the 2003 Fightin’ Blue Hens.

Two other former UD players are active in the NFL, with quarterback Rich Gannon the starter for the Oakland Raiders and Bob Slowik the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers.
