Echaveste launches Hispanic Heritage Month

4:56 p.m., Sept. 20, 2004--Maria Echaveste, who served as deputy chief of staff for President Bill Clinton, addressed the growing influence of Hispanic Americans in the United States Thursday evening, Sept. 16, to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month at UD.

Under the Clinton administration, Echaveste assisted with immigration, education, civil rights, bankruptcy and trade issues. She currently is an attorney and a frequent guest on To The Contrary, PBS’ all-female news analysis series.
