Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a story about the ouster of Hewlett Packard chief executive officer Carly Fiorina in the Feb. 21 issue of Time magazine. He also was quoted concerning Hewlett Packard in a Feb. 18 Financial Times story and in a Feb. 17 Business Week online commentary.

Elson was quoted in a Feb. 17 New York Post story on ethics training at Citigroup and in a Feb. 17 Washington Post story on Talk America. He was quoted in two stories in the Feb. 15 Sacramento Bee, one on an environmental initiative undertaken by the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, a major corporate investor, and the other on the politicization of pension funds. Elson also was quoted in a Feb. 13 San Francisco Chronicle story about corporate boards getting tough with failing chief executive officers.

Wendy Carey, a coastal processes specialist for the UD Sea Grant Marine Advisory Service, was noted in a Feb. 18 Cape Gazette story about a briefing she provided the Lewes Planning Commission on rising sea levels.

Dick Wilkins, professor of mechanical engineering, was quoted in a Feb. 16 News Journal story on UD engineering students who designed new recycling bins for the Delaware Solid Waste Authority.

Carl German, a specialist with the UD Cooperative Extension Service, was quoted in a Feb. 16 News Journal story on concerns about proposed federal farm subsidy cuts.

John C. Kraft, H. Fletcher Brown Professor Emeritus of Geology, was quoted in a Feb. 15 News Journal story on archaeological finds at Cape Henlopen.

P. Michael Peterson, associate professor of health and exercise sciences, was quoted in a Feb. 15 News Journal story about company-sponsored health promotion programs. Peterson is working with the company Lluminari, which provides quality health programming in the workplace.

UD President David P. Roselle was quoted in the February issue of University Business magazine in a story about fundraising at public universities. The magazine suggested other public universities “look to the University of Delaware for pointers,” citing the great success of The Campaign for Delaware. The effort has raised more than $410 million, far beyond the original goal of $225 million.

John Byrne, Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and director of the UD Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, was quoted in a Feb. 13 News Journal story about clean air initiatives undertaken by the State of Delaware.

Janis Tomlinson, director of the University Museums, was quoted in a Feb. 13 News Journal story on the gift of 600 works of art to UD by the Litt family of Philadelphia.

Valerie Hans, professor of sociology and criminal justice, was interviewed Feb. 11 on the Australian Broadcasting Corp. Radio National program, The Law Report, concerning the Michael Jackson jury trial.
