Sports Network honors three Fightin’ Blue Hens

9:09 a.m., Dec. 14, 2004--Three University of Delaware football players have been named to the 2004 Sports Network NCAA Division I-AA All-America team.

Senior Sidney Haugabrook was named to the second team as a kick returner while senior Chris Mooney and junior Tom Parks were named to the third team as defensive lineman.

Haugabrook, a UD co-captain, earlier was named a first team All-America cornerback by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He was one of the most dangerous special teams players in the nation, averaging 11.4 yards and scoring two touchdowns on 27 punt returns and averaging 27.0 yards and scoring one touchdown on 27 kickoff returns.

Mooney, a three-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference selection on the defensive line, had 42 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, three pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. Mooney, an accounting major, earlier was named a second team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American.

Parks, a two-year starter, was a first team All-Atlantic 10 honoree. He led all UD defensive linemen with 48 tackles and led the conference and was ranked 15th nationally in sacks with 10. Also an accounting major, Parks was nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
