LaBar, Warrington named ECAC All-Stars

9:59 a.m., Dec. 2, 2004--Two University of Delaware field hockey players, senior tri-captain Erica LaBar and sophomore Amanda Warrington, have been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I All-Star team.

The team, selected by a vote of ECAC coaches, was announced Monday.

LaBar earlier was named first team All-Colonial Athletic Association and to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region team. She represented UD in the North-South Senior All-Star Game.

LaBar scored 11 goals this season and had four assists. After coming back from an injury that forced her to become a redshirt during her freshman year, LaBar started all 84 games in her career, a record she shares with fellow senior tri-captain Leah Geib.

Warrington earlier was selected second team NFHCA All-American, an honored she shared with Geib. Warrington was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and the outstanding performer in the conference championship tournament. She was selected first team All-CAA and first team NFHCA All-Region.

Warrington scored 10 goals and had four assists this season. She scored the first goal of the game in the NCAA Division I tournament contest against the University of Maryland, which UD lost 5-2. Warrington has started all 45 games of her collegiate career.

Defenders: Abby Ostruzka, University of Connecticut; Kristin Madden, Boston College; Amanda Warrington, University of Delaware.

Goalkeeper: Betsy Wagner, Syracuse University.

Player of the Year: Lauren Henderson, University of Connecticut.
