UDs Colleen OBrien is CAA Rookie of Year 11:08 a.m., Dec. 20, 2004--Freshman Colleen O'Brien of the University of Delaware has been selected the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year in women's cross country. In addition to being named the top freshman runner in the conference, she also was voted to the All-CAA team. O'Brien was UDs top finisher in six of the seven meets during the season and earned four consecutive top 10 finishes in the Great American Festival at Cary, N.C., two Delaware Invitational meets and the CAA championship meet. OBrien finished third at the CAA championships, the first top 10 finish by a UD runner since Aimee Alexander came in sixth at the 2001 championship meet and the best conference finish since Sarah Cowles won the America East title in 1996. OBrien capped the year by placing 34th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at Penn State and seventh at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships.
