Police investigate Jan. 15 assault

11:17 a.m., Jan. 18, 2005--Newark Police are investigating the assault of a 20-year-old man that occurred around 1:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 15, in front of Building J at Ivy Hall Apartments on Wollaston Avenue in Newark.

The man was standing outside the building smoking a cigarette, when a young man, described at 18-23 years old, 6’ tall with a thin build and glasses, bumped into him. Words were exchanged, and the suspect pulled a knife and cut the victim in the hand. The victim was treated and released from the Newark Emergency Room.

The victim, who is not a UD student, was visiting a friend who lives at Ivy Hall Apartments.
