UD women’s soccer to host CAA playoff match Nov. 4

10:45 a.m. Nov. 3, 2003--The University of Delaware will host a Colonial Athletic Association women’s soccer championship tournament match when the Fightin’ Blue Hens take on George Mason University at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.

The winner of that game will travel to Hofstra University for a tournament semifinal match against Virginia Commonwealth University at 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7.

The CAA championship game will be played at 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9, at Hofstra.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens clinched home field advantage in the opening round of the tournament by defeating the University of North Carolina Wilmington 2-1 on Saturday.

With the victory, the Hens closed the regular season with a record of 10-5-3 overall and 5-2-2 in CAA. UD is the No. 3 seed in the tournament and George Mason is the No. 6 seed.

Hofstra is the top seed, followed by Virginia Commonwealth, Delaware, William & Mary, James Madison and George Mason.

In the victory at UNC Wilmington, UD freshman Jennifer Krepps and junior midfielder Ginette Buffone scored second half goals at 62:21 and 66:49, respectively.

Krepps scored on a penalty kick, and Buffone scored her third goal of the season on as assist by Melissa Kunisky.

UD redshirt freshman Bonnie Mills notched her third career shutout as she picked up her fourth win of the season.
